Mrs. Ruby Michael

Ruby Carico Michael, formerly of Harford County, MD, and Swarthmore, PA, died April 1, 2011, at Broomall Presbyterian Village, Broomall, PA. She was 99. She was the daughter of the late Mattie Carico and William Elbert Carico, and was married to the late William H. Michael. She trained in nursing at Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia, and subsequently practiced nursing there for 42 years. She was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church, Upper Darby, PA, and the Churchville Presbyterian Church, Churchville, MD, where she spent her early years. She loved nursing, healing, and helping people with medical issues, and she enjoyed cooking and baking. Her interest in travel took her around the US and to countries including Canada, Indonesia, England, Australia, Germany, former Soviet Union, and Finland. She is survived by her niece, Janice Carico Scarff . She was predeceased by her sister Ruth Carico Connelly and brother Walter Herbert Carico. Graveside service will be 10:30am, Friday, April 22, at Mt. Zion cemetery, 1643 Churchville Rd., Bel Air, Maryland 21014.
