Mr. William Root

Root William T. Root, of Aston, Pa, died in a kayaking accident on Sunday, April 17 on the Allegheny River in western Pennsylvania. He is survived by his children, Emily Bailey of Philadelphia, Daniel Root (Jennifer) of Secane, Tim Root (at home, Aston), his pets Puck and Stella, his father, William W. Root of Swarthmore, PA, his brother Dennis T. Root of Lemont, PA and his former wife, Julia Murphy of Brookhaven, PA. William Root was born on August 15, 1954 in Philadelphia and grew up in Delaware County. He completed an associates degree in horticulture from Temple University Ambler campus and worked as groundskeeper foreman at Delaware County Community College from 1978 until 1989. He obtained his associates degree in Nursing from Delaware County Community College in 1989 and has since been employed at Crozer Chester Medical Center as Registered Nurse. Bill was an outdoorsman who loved fishing, paddling, hiking and swimming in the ocean. He was an avid reader and music lover. Family and friends are invited to William's Life Celebration services on Saturday April 23, 2011 from 1 to 3pm at The James F.
